Blues close in on Aleksandr Golovin deal

That is the claim of Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, one of the first to suggest that the Blues were in talks to sign Jorginho last week.

The Blues welcomed the double arrival of ex-Napoli duo Maurizio Sarri and Jorginho in a joint £57million deal, stealing the latter from under the nose of rivals and Premier League champions Manchester City.

And Italian boss Sarri is apparently wasting no time in looking to stamp his mark on the Blues with former players Daniele Rugani and Gonzalo Higuain also heavily linked.

The west London club have meanwhile been touted to sign World Cup star Golovin after the midfielder impressed for Russia, who reached the quarter-finals and knocked out Spain.

The 22-year-old was one of the break-out stars of the tournament with one goal and two assists for the hosts.

The CSKA Moscow ace was also linked with Juventus, Arsenal and Monaco - the French club having submitted a bid earlier this week.

According to some reports, Juve have also had a £17.7m bid for the youngster turned down as a battle for Golovin's signature heats up.

But Romano has taken to Twitter to indicate that Chelsea are closing in on a deal despite interest elsewhere.

He said last night: “Chelsea are in advanced talks with CSKA Moscow for #Golovin  #CFC #Chelsea #transfers.”
